Part of the Three Words project - find out more at http://www.citiesandmemory.com/three-words - using the three words Flag, Sport and Public.
A few different factors were used to create this piece.
1. Male and female voices are made up from the software Vocaloid. The phrases are all connected with displays that have been in the Liverpool Museum over the last few years. ’Rainbow Flag’, ‘Sport for All’ and Public Transport. I added overhead railway as it is one the best displays and once upon a time the overhead railway went quite near to the present site of the museum.
2. The short synth sequence of notes that follow each phrase are made up from the letters of the phrase using a simple code. A to G are A to G# (G# made it a bit more interesting). H to N is A to G# again. O to U repeats this pattern and so on.
3. The phrases also follow the same code of notes.
4. The museum has had on display equipment from OMD and so I used some vintage equipment of my own that probably should be in a museum. Akai S200 and S612, Cheetah MS6, Mattel Synsonic Drums, Yamaha DD5 and EMU Classic Keys. Sadly, my Yamaha CS01 gave up the ghost.
