Stabbings, fights and one person hit by a crossbow, that's the result of last night's bonfire in the New Lodge estate in north Belfast.

The bonfire went ahead after the PSNI pulled out of the area yesterday afternoon. Bricks and bottles had been hurled at police and three officers were hurt in the ensuing trouble. Police later said they took the decision to leave because of the "risks to innocent bystanders" posed by their presence.

But what about those left behind? What protection was there for people living in the area last night?

On to discuss this was Assistant Chief Constable Alan Todd and Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly.
