A Crossover Extravaganza!

Season 1, Episode 15,   Jul 17, 2019, 01:00 AM

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. We are back in your feeds after our brief hiatus last week.

It’s a shake-up week at Amazin’ Avenue Audio and we welcome Lukas Vlahos and Ken Lavin as guest hosts while lending Allison out to From Complex to Queens and Linda to Amazin’ Avenue The Show.

This week, Maggie, Ken, and Lukas bemoan the Mets’ botched communications around Amed Rosario’s benching, as well as the classic Mets melange of bad process and bad luck that has landed Zack Wheeler on the injured list at the worst possible moment.

Then, we take a broad look at the state of labor issues in the minor leagues. The current system leaves the youngest and most vulnerable professional players open to sub-minimum wage, poor working conditions, and potentially dangerous experimentation. What will it take to get MLB to invest in their human resources?

And finally, we wrap things up as usual with our walk-off wins - one thing that made each of us happy this week!
