Episode 1,   Jun 30, 2019, 07:38 PM

Legendary war photographer Paul Conroy and Yassin Al Haj Saleh widely regarded by many as the ‘Conscience of the Revolution’ discuss the future of Syria as the Syrian Regime with Russia target civilians in Idlib and continue to bomb hospitals after several even destroyed after the UN supplied Putin’s forces with their co-ordinates to avoid them.

Yassin and Paul have both paid a high personal price through their experience and are uniquely qualified to talk about Syria.

Yassin spent sixteen years in Assad regime prisons after being arrested as a nineteen year old medical student for engaging in peaceful political activity in Aleppo, his wife Samira Khalil a well known civil society activist was kidnapped in 2013 with three others by Jihadists including Razan Zaitouneh and known as the Douma Four, and his brother was murdered by ISIS in Raqqa. Paul Conroy was critically wounded in Baba Amr when his colleague the famous war correspondent Marie Colvin was murdered by Assad’s forces in 2012.

The meeting took place on Tuesday the 28th of May, 2019 with Paul Conroy in front of a packed audience in Trinity in Dublin and Yassin Al Haj Saleh on the big screen participating via a Skype video link from Berlin.   The questions from the audience underlined the impact both speakers made on the night but it was clear from what they said with the situation turning into hell on earth for civilians in Idlib very urgent action is needed by the international community to stop the slaughter.

The meeting was organised by the Irish Syria Solidarity Movement (ISSM) in assocaition with Peace Studies, the School of Religion, Trinity College and chaired by Ronan Tynan, Director of the award winning film documentary ‘Syria - The impossible Revolution’.
