Almost 1 in 5 people in working households are living in relative poverty.
That’s according to the Institute for Fiscal Studies, which says the number has risen 40 percent over the 25 years between 1994 and 2017.
There are many factors behind it, including a rise in employment and what counts as relative poverty, but also more expensive housing and living costs.
Michael Wilson speaks to Senior Research Economist at the IFS, Jonathan Cribb, who first explains 'relative poverty'.
