Christy Lefteri's moving story of a couple tested to the limits of their love and sanity as casualties of the war in Syria was born of her experiences as the daughter of Cypriot refugees as well as helping Syrian and other refugees in Athens. Nuri and Afra live on the outskirts of Aleppo where Nuri tends his beehives and Afra is an artist; these are not political people and yet, the ravages of war are inescapable and their lives are decimated. Their journey to the UK and back to eachother is a testament to the hope that we all carry.
