More domestic violence news casts a cloud over MLB

Season 1, Episode 7,   May 15, 2019, 02:35 AM

Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we look at a key upcoming stretch for the Mets, and the injuries that may make or break it for them. (0:44)

CONTENT WARNING: In the second segment of this week’s show, we speak about domestic violence. If this is content that is difficult for you to listen to or you would prefer not to hear it, skip ahead to the Seventh Inning Stretch segment.

Next, we follow up on last week’s discussion of MLB’s problem with domestic violence with a look at Addison Russell’s return from suspension and new allegations surrounding Julio Urias.

If you or someone you know is in a dangerous situation or a victim of intimate partner violence, you can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline. There are also many state and national organizations that provide resources to victims and survivors, including the Pace Women’s Justice Center in New York.

We then move onto more uplifting territory in a return to one of our favorite segments - the seventh inning stretch, where we read and respond to some of the messages sent in by our listeners.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
