In this episode of the Out of Chicago Podcast, Michael Novo talks to Mark Serrano, a professional portrait photographer and expert retouching.

Mark discusses going through the edit process with clients, from out of camera to the final product. He also discusses his workflow, which can sometimes last upwards of four hours per photo, dealing with exposure, healing, dodging, burning and tonal corrections.

Located in Chicago, he specializes in both in-studio portraiture, as well as environmental portraits.

Mark will also be highlighted at the Out of Chicago Portrait Conference, where he’ll teach both an instructional class titled “Practical Retouching in 90 Minutes,” as well as a post-conference workshop.

The Out of Chicago Portrait Conference takes place April 8-9, and registration is still available.

Following the podcast, Mark discussed the controversy surrounding retouching in the media. You can download this 10-minute clip by clicking the button below, or texting “RETOUCH” to 44422.
