Sinn Fein under fire for Irish border "Berlin Wall" warning
Do you remember the Berlin Wall? It was a 96 mile long barrier of concrete and barbed wire barrier, patrolled by armed border guards and watched over by lookout towers. It stood for nearly 30 years and more than 130 people died trying to cross it. It divided families, communities and the states of East and West Germany before it was demolished in 1989. Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald recalled the Berlin Wall when she spoke to journalists in London yesterday - echoing comments she made outside the Dail last Thursday.
