An Ashford woman who filmed herself having her first smear test says she's pleased action is being taken to try and encourage more women to have it done.

The number going for screening has fallen to a 20 year low.

The test can detect the early signs of cervical cancer which kills around two women in England every day.

25 year-old Sophie Brandon published the video on her facebook to show her friends what it was like after many said they were worried.

More than 2,500 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in England every year - it's thought if everyone went for screening regularly, 83 percent of cases could be prevented.
