Help us feed and clothe our people
Bison rut reimagined by Joel Graham.
"I read about the Hopi tribe of Native Americans extending their influence into the Yellowstone area from New Mexico and Arizona. The modified Hopi chant is from a 1926 recording of unknown origin.
Bison were and are such an integral part of Native American culture and lore, that I thought the "Rut" would be a perfect praying time for them.
The field recording was used in both a spirit form (processed background) and the original form (guttural foreground)
I recorded the bells myself and added them to the dancers for this project."
