Another independent review recommendation into PIP rejected by Dept of Communities - this time about enhanced training for assessors.
The Department of Communities has rejected another recommendation from the independent review into PIP. It suggested that there should be enhanced training for assessors. Today you'll hear Aisling's story. Her 16 year old son Pearse is severely disabled and Aisling is his full time carer. Pearse requires 24hr care. He has cerebral palsy, a learning disability, he takes seizures, he can't walk, he is non-verbal, and he has been peg fed through a tube since he was 12. Aisling recently had to apply for PIP on Pearse's behalf and although he was awarded the enhanced level, she was concerned about the assessment.
