Motorists With Poor Vision Still On The Roads

A campaign by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) is calling for more comprehensive and regular vision checks for drivers.

Under existing UK law, drivers have to undergo an eye test only when taking their initial driving test and may continue to drive with no further checks for the rest of their life.

We spoke about the campaign with Optometrist and AOP Clinical Advisor Henry Leonard and Gillian Jones, whose dad was struck and killed by a motorist in 2012.

Henry and Gillian are talking with RNIB Connect Radio’s Simon Pauley.
