RNIB’s 150 Anniversary Feature: “Speed Demon” Billy Baxter
This year marks charity RNIB’s 150th Anniversary and to celebrate we’ve reached out to inspiring figures to talk about their achievements and living with sight loss.
Billy Baxter is a blind motorcyclist who in 2003 broke the world record for the fastest solo blind rider.
In 1997, whilst serving with the 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery in Bosnia, Billy lost his sight after contracting a rare disease that destroyed his optic nerves. His life was never the same.
Chatting with RNIB Connect Radio’s Simon Pauley, Billy tells us more about his pursuit of adrenaline and how through the help of charities he turned his life around.
