WHO launches 2018 Global Tuberculosis Report today

Health experts warn that the unfavorable conditions for treating tuberculosis patients in South Sudan are leading to high prevalence rates of the disease.

TB remains the top infectious killer in the world claiming over four thousand (4,000) lives a day.

In South Sudan, 257 per every 100,000 people are infected with Tuberculosis. Lucia Akala, a clinical officer at Kator Primary Health Care center in Juba says the chain infections are largely because patients are not isolated as required . 

Ahead of the launch of this global report on Tuberculosis, Sebit William caught up with Dr Rita Charles from Juba Teaching Hospital and Lucia Akala, a clinical officer at Kator Primary Health care centre to tell us more about TB prevalence, mortality and prevention strategies.
