Word Vision Tackles Gender Based Violence in South Sudan
The government and humanitarian partners are being encouraged to enforce preventive measures to tackle the shocking rates of Gender Based violence occurring in South Sudan.
World Vision organization estimates that 65% of women and girls have suffered abuse and two out of six girls are married off before the age of 18.
The aid organization attributes these high levels to the conflict and negative cultural attitudes against women.
The World Vision coordinator for Protection and Gender Based Violence, Gabriel Genge, says the organization provides support through referral pathways, awareness raising and immediate interventions for survivors.
