Youth activist calls for better mental health support in South Sudan

A young activist is calling for a clear campaign to raise awareness about mental health in the coun-try.

Adhieu Majok - analyst, writer and editor recently penned an editorial on the mental health in the South Sudan medical journal, describing mental health as one of the most neglected issues that needs urgent attention now.

Adhieu Majak says many people in South Sudan suffer stigma and post-traumatic stress disorder, which has resulted into many taking their own lives.

Speaking on the Miraya Breakfast Show, Adhieu said there must be open conversations about mental health and resources must be made more readily available to support people struggling with mental health issues.
