Rhiannon Tudor Edwards, now a Professor in Health Economics at Bangor University in Wales and mentor to visually impaired youngsters, managed to overcome the challenges the shocking diagnosis presented her with.
Speaking to RNIB Connect Radio's Simon Pauley, Rhiannon recalls the years of losing her sight and reveals how she managed to push through and remain as positive and optimistic as she is.
