Canada is not a mass-market destination. It doesn’t deliver the conventional sun, sand, sea holiday, but instead offers considerably more soul, substance and spirit in the adventures. Some people will not get it, and these people will not choose to visit Canada – but they are missing a trick. Many from the UK visit friends and families there, or head to the Rockies for the experience, Calgary for the cowboys (ok, ranch experience), or Vancouver and the surrounding ski resorts for some of the best skiing in the world. But in the twenty two years I’ve been travel reporting, Canada has always been the place I have drawn to because of the opportunities of adventure and for want of a better word, its energy.
