Yetnebersh Nigussie is an activist and one of the first blind female lawyers from Ethiopia.

Having lost her sight at the age of 5, she became an unsuitable wife in the eyes of her community.

But for Yetnebersh, sight loss became a blessing in disguise allowing this future activist to escape childhood marriage and instead obtain education in the city.

In Part 1 of the interview, Yetnebersh chats to RNIB Connect Radio’s Simon Pauley about her childhood, studies and how her life changed due to sight loss.
