Today as we commemorate the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, there are 14 active UN peacekeeping missions across 4 continents working around the clock to protect and advance the cause of peace.
On May 29th, 1948 the UN Security-Council authorized the first UN Peacekeeping operation – the UN Truce Supervision Organization in the Middle East.
