IGAD: We will not let South Sudan burn
Kenya has been closely involved in the peace process, both as a member of the eight-member regional bloc- IGAD and as a neighbor who has opened its borders to thousands of refugees.
Kenya’s representative at the peace talks in Addis-Ababa says his country and regional nations ‘will not let South Sudan burn.’
Ababu Terrah Namwamba, Chief Administrative Secretary in Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the IGAD Council of Ministers would be convening a meeting shortly to consider tough action against violators of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
He spoke to Gabriel Shadar and Patricia Okoed in Addis – and started off by responding to concerns that IGAD is under pressure from the international community to secure a deal on South Sudan.
