"The image of birds circling the beach at Dakar brought to mind the idea of calm before/after the storm. After the busy day is over and the city dwellers have left, the birds have the freedom to roam and feast in peace. I wanted to create a piece of music that reflected this calmness in its ambience, but also unfolded in a way that anticipates or echoes the "storm". Distorted guitars, spliced drum samples and cuts from previous & future work swell and rise throughout the piece."
