UN Special Representative David Shearer’s media briefing – 10.05.18
The Special Representative of the Secretary General, also chief of the UN Mission in South Sudan is calling on the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM), to make public the violation reports in its possession.
Addressing a press conference in Juba on Thursday, David Shearer outlined the logistical support provided by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to the ceasefire monitors through peacekeeping force protection and road and air transport to the various conflict zones, and said violators of the cessation of hostilities agreement should be made public and held to account.
The Special Representative in his briefing also highlighted the UNMISS’ support to the High-Level Revitalization Forum and said the Mission would be sending a technical team to the talks that are scheduled to reconvene in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from the 17th – 22nd of this month.
