President Salva Kiir extends 'olive branch' to SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar

Last week President Salva Kiir appeared to extend an olive branch to SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar to return to Juba and ‘complete the party reunification.’

President Kiir made the comments during the recent National Liberation Council meeting, saying the self-exiled opposition leader should return within a 45-day period before the next Liberation Council meeting.

The President’s press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny emphasizes the President’s call, saying Machar is a citizen of South Sudan and is free to come back and participate in the country’s next elections.
