The Spotlight with United Nations Volunteer Barbara Swayerr, Air Operations Assistant from Ghana

Barbara Ransolina Sawyerr, is one of the about 500 United Nations Volunteers is serving as an Air Operations Assistant with the Aviation section of the UN Mission in South Sudan - UNMISS.

She started her UNV adventure in South Sudan in March 2013 and has since served as a Flight Planner with the Air Ops Unit and currently with the Technical Compliance Unit.

"It is very challenging, you should be strong willed and love what you do most, think first and always be on point," says Ms. Sawyerr.

She prides herself as a hard worker, always challenging herself to reach any set target with her duties in the office and also with her career.

"The most important value about volunteering is to give out something you have to put a smile on a face and touch another life."

Barbara,  a mother of two children, is also a member of United Christians Association Network, where she is a member of the choir, doing what she loves best  - singing.  As a member of the Outreach group, she looks out for the needy and support the orphanage.
