Boat Radio – Linus Wilson on the notorious rescued women sailors and Beneteau at FLIBS 2017

Nov 14, 2017, 05:00 AM

On October 25th, two women and their pet dogs were rescued after drifting in the Pacific Ocean for more than five months. Jennifer Appel and Natasha Fuiava were picked up 900 miles southeast of Japan. The pair had set sail from Hawaii on May 3rd bound for Tahiti and the passage should have taken no more than three weeks. What happened? Well, their explanations have met with a barrage of criticism. People simply don’t believe their story and sailors particularly have been very quick to point out the inconsistencies. Boat Radio plans to speak to Miss Appel and Miss Fuiava but, while we wait to arrange and schedule that interview, we thought it a good idea to chat with Dr Linus Wilson. Linus is a friend of Boat Radio, he presents a popular sailing podcast and, crucially, he has taken a particular interest in this story and its many puzzling aspects. In this podcast, he gives his take on this modern maritime mystery. This is a fascinating story. You will not be disappointed. Also in this edition of the show, Jason Joyner, head of sales for Beneteau’s US Powerboat division, sits down with Sarah O’Kelly at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to talk about boat design, sales trends and the current fashion for putting outboards on everything. Sarah O’Kelly runs Skipper's Review, an awesome review and recommendation website for boaters worldwide: https://skippersreview.com/ Linus Wilson presents the Slow Boat Sailing Podcast: https://linuswilson.podbean.com/ He is also the author of three best-selling sailing books: https://www.amazon.com/Linus-Wilson/e/B0182NILTI To learn more about Boat Radio, and to find out how your message could be heard around a quarter of a million times per month by a friendly audience with a particular interest in boats, visit our website: http://www.boatradio.tv/
