BBC investigation reveals millions of pounds of the Queen's money invested offshore #ParadisePapers
Confidential documents seen by the BBC's Panorama programme have revealed that £10m from the Queen's estate has been invested in offshore funds based in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. The Queen's investments are handled by the Duchy of Lancaster who told Panorama: 'All of our investments are fully audited and legitimate.' It is perfectly legal, and there's no suggestion tax was being avoided, but it has started a debate about whether the monarch's cash should be going offshore. So, this has attracted criticism from many - but, given that the Queen or her estate have done nothing illegal - is the criticism unfair?
