The Prime Minister and Taoiseach have agreed there should be no return to direct rule.

Theresa May and Leo Varadkar spoke in a phone call last night.

Both leaders expressed the view that it is still possible to form an Executive.

The DUP leader Arlene Foster said the decision to go ahead with a budget did not mean that the negotiations on restoring Stormont are over.
