That sound that you weren’t supposed to hear
Reimagined by John Wiggins.
"Many times recording in the field, I felt a little like a spy. I used to record at the pay phones in a busy train station and then edit the one-sided conversations together, so I am a bit of a sneak. And I always loved that sound that you weren’t supposed to hear, a snippet of dialog, someone’s headphones blasting as they walk by, yelling way over there. That’s what the San Pedra de Atacama School marching band rehearsing seemed to be to me. They’re still working on it and they’re playing somewhere over there. The DIN that always fascinated me so. I just tried to be part of the band."
