Judges want overtime allowances to deal with back-log cases
“There should be overtime allowances for Judges to speed up their back-log work.”
The chairperson of the Judges steering committee is appealing for overtime allowances for judges who have resumed work.
The judges recently returned to work after a 4-month strike in which they were strike protesting working conditions and demanding the resignation of the Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut. Justice Bol Lul says the magistrates are working long hours to deal with back-log cases that piled up during their industrial action.
Justice Lul says the judges also need motivation to fill the gap of 14 of their colleagues who were dismissed during the strike.
