Grassroots consultations on the #SouthSudan national dialogue will reach 80 locations, to gather proposals from the public on the structure and approach of the dialogue process.

The National Dialogue steering committee is preparing to dispatch teams to the Equatoria and Barh el Ghazal regions to consult with communities.

One hundred representatives will be selected in each location to consult with the steering committee, ahead of a dialogue conference expected to be convened in Juba early next year.

Abraham Awolic, a member of the Dialogue Secretariat says the views gathered will be used to frame the agenda, saying the election of the representatives will follow a ‘set criteria.’ Magod Maker, a member of the National Dialogue Steering Committee stressed the selections of the community representatives will ‘not be a political process.’

Awolic and Maker sat down with Gabriel Shadar to explain more about the process.
