UNMISS SRSG David Shearer Press conference in Juba

The United Nations will convene two side line meetings during the UN General Assembly in New York next week to discuss developments in #SouthSudan.

Addressing a press conference in Juba, UN Special Representative, David Shearer said the first meeting on Wednesday 20th September will assess the current humanitarian situation in the country, while the second is a High-Level meeting that will be convened by the UN with co-facilitation by the African Union and IGAD to consider the revitalization of the political process.

During the briefing, Mr Shearer also said up to 11,000 IDPs have left UN IDP sites since the beginning of the year. He also revealed that renewed fighting in Aburoc has prompted the withdrawal of 30 aid workers.
