Poignant interview with Emeritus Bishop Taban Paride on youth, trauma and learning from history to solve #SouthSudan crisis

“Youth are on drugs and in conflict because they are idle. Our youth should be occupied.”

The Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Torit Paride Taban is encouraging the young people of #SouthSudan to shun violence and set their minds on peace building.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Bishop Paride underscored the need for young minds to keep constructively busy pointing out that “idleness could ultimately lead to trauma.”

The Bishop, also founder of Holy Trinity Peace Village Kuron in Torit, is also is advising the people of South Sudan to learn from history as they seek a solution to the country’s crises.

He says studying the experiences from other countries gives direction and helps map a path to sustainable peace.
