Sporadic gunfire rocked Yambio town on Sunday as security authorities arrested a senior commander of the #SouthSudan National Liberation Movement (SSNLM).

The commander identified as James Kabila and some of his bodyguards were killed in an exchange with the arresting officers.

Kabila was wanted in connection with the murder of a staff member of the World Vision aid organization.

The SSNLM signed a peace deal with the government in 2016 to bring an end to months of insecurity in the Western Equatoria area.

The reintegration of the former fighters is in its advanced stages with some ex-combatants opting to return to the civilian community while others are being absorbed into the organised forces.

Gbudue State information Minister Gibson Bullen Wade says this incident will not affect the peace deal signed with the state government.

He spoke to Irene Lasu in this interview.
