Judges have called off their 4-month strike. The #SouthSudan judges’ steering committee met with President Salva Kiir today and informed the President that the general assembly agreed to lift their strike without pre-conditions.

Chairperson of the judges committee, Bol Lul Wang confirmed to Radio Miraya that they took the decision in consideration of the impact of their pro-longed industrial action including piling of cases and congestion in prison and police cells.

Wang confirmed that they will be returning to courtrooms on Monday 11th September.

The judges went on strike in May, demanding the resignation of Chief justice, Chan Reech Madut.

They are also demanding for transport allowances, construction of more courtrooms and improved working conditions.

Bol Lul Wang spoke to John Wani in this interview.
