The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) says it will continue to investigate the circumstances under which American journalist Christopher Allen was killed in fighting between the #SouthSudan army opposition forces in Kaya on Saturday morning.

CPJ’s Coordinator for the Africa Program, Angela Quintal said the killing of one journalist represents the death of many.

Speaking to Radio Miraya from New York, Ms. Quintal she urged the government to launch a credible investigation into his death and desist from making inflammatory statements.

She stressed the importance of foreign coverage of the South Sudan conflict to give it the international attention it deserves.

Christopher Allen’s remains were handed over to US Embassy officials in Juba on Tuesday.

Angela Quintal spoke to Sworo Charles Elisha in this interview.
