Young South Sudanese advocates for National Identity
[...] "We are a South Sudanese first, having a national identity that respects other people’s cultures...if we all forgive we defeat hatred" - Akol Dok, a 22-year-old university student based in the United States.
Akol Dok, was 5 - years - old, when the war between the two Sudan has forced him and his family to flee the country and seek asylum in the united States of America. He took the opportunity to study at prestigious University and in 2016, he scooped the Mr. Africa International award.
Akol told Miraya Breakfast Show presenter, Irene Lasu, that it is important for South Sudanese to have a national identity that respects the diverse cultures.
