Cântarea (Fagaras, Romania)

Romanian protest against emergency laws reimagined by Richard Watts.

"The original recording had lots of chants so I have used one of those as the basis for the piece. There was also lots of trumpets/horns and whistles so I have sampled those at various speeds and used them in the piece. The distorted sounds and distorted guitar is supposed to be the authorities make their presence known. I wanted to get a hypnotic rhythm going and then add overlaid sounds."
