Late Friday night, Teamsters Local 533 rejected the latest contract offer by M-V Transit, the company that runs the RTC bus system. Local 533 President Gary Watson says the major problem is a two-tiered wage system that pays senior drivers $21 per hour plus benefits, but new drivers get minimum wage during training and start at only $12 per hour. The union has also accused M-V of bringing in replacement workers while the contract is still under negotiation. Talks are scheduled to resume on July 26.
