Fire crews continue battling a brush fire northwest of Reno along 395 near White Lake they've dubbed the Cold Springs fire. The fire was reported at about one this (Friday) afternoon. Red Rock Road is closed, and there are closures on White Lake Parkway and Crystal Canyon Boulevard. The Department of Public Safety says evacuations orders on the fire have been lifted. Fire management says the fire has burned somewhere between 15-hundred and two-thousand acres. Great Basin Water Co., Cold Springs Division power has been restored to multiple well sites in Cold Springs. The Farad fire burning in Verdi along I-80 has charred 747 acres and is 81 percent contained. Sierra Front says firefighters are expecting minimal fire growth and the fire is no longer spotting. The brush fire on Brenda Way has burned at least 1250 acres. The fire is east of Eastlake Boulevard and broke out near homes shortly after 3:00 this afternoon. Seven hundred homes in the Eastlake Boulevard and Andrew Lane areas were threatened one time, but evacuees have been told it's okay to go home. Galena High School is the evacuation center. A fire 25 miles west of Winnemucca has grown to 10,000 acres within three hours and caused the evacuation of the Sunrise and Dun Glenn mines. The fire, known as the MM 155 fire, is zero percent contained. It started at about 2:30 this (Friday) afternoon. B-L-M officials say If it continues to spread quickly there could be threats to the communities of Rose Creek, Grass Valley and Winnemucca.
