A lightning caused brush fire, dubbed the Aspen Fire, that started last (Saturday) night continues burning out of control in the area of Quaking Aspen Road and Wilcox Ranch Road in Palomino Valley. At last word the fire had burned 200 acres and is threatening ten structures. The Truckee Meadows Fire District says hvacuations have been ordered and the Equestrian Center on Whiskey Springs Road is currently accepting Animals. The Truckee Fire north of Fernley has burned nearly 100 thousand acres. BLM says it's about 95 percent contained. And the Earthstone Fire near Sparks has burned an estimated 42,000 acres and is 95% contained. Fire investigators are looking for two men who may be responsible for starting that fire.
