An Amber Alert remains in effect after a car jacking Thursday afternoon in Sparks. A 75 year-old woman was carjacked by a man who had an 8 year old girl with him. Normally a missing person report or something similar is required before an amber alert is issued, but Sparks Police Lieutenant Greta Woyciewhowsky (Woy-chow-ski) says they consulted with N-H-P and decided to issue the alert any way:

The Lieutenant says the car is a maroon Nissan Altima with the license plate 9-2-F-4-2-4. The carjacker is described as being black, 28 to 35 years old old, six feet tall, with a thin build and thin mustache. The child is described as black, wearing pig tails and a dark yellow dress.
