Making voting easier and fairer.
When it comes to casting our vote, those who are eligible should be able to do so accessibly and in secrecy. For some time now, there have been increasing calls to make sure polling stations are prepared to assist people who are blind or partially sighted carry out their democratic right to elect their chosen candidates. The Electoral Commission is charged with running the polling system and to oversee that the rules are followed. RNIB Connect Radio's Iain Wilson spoke to Ailsa Irvin, from the Commission, to find out how they monitor accessibility, provide information to voters on accessibility and can offer help when it doesn't go to plan.
