IFRC appeals for $4.2m US dollars to respond to South Sudanese refugee influx in Sudan
The International Federation of the Red Cross has put out an appeal for 4.2 million US dollars to assist thousands of South Sudanese refugees crossing into Sudan.
According to UNHCR estimates reported on Radio Miraya yesterday, nearly 137,000 South Sudanese, mainly women and children, have crossed into Sudan since January; which is more than the 131,000 that arrived during 2016 alone.
Dr Michael Charles, is the Head of The International Federation of the Red Cross Country Office in South Sudan. He told Samuel Pawon that the money is desperately needed to respond to the urgent needs of 63,000 most vulnerable settled in camps in East and South Darfur and West and South Kordofan.
