Ray Moore - Last show
They could have banged spoons together rather than play songs and the audience would still have loved it. Terry Wogan, preceded by Ray Moore. What a Radio 2 schedule.
Although the station’s music schedule did wander off in all Lines of directions over the years, Terry and Ray did the business.
Ray Moore. A warm, intimate, rasping, teasing voice which so suited a British morning; and, famously, those last minutes on-air as one year passed to the next.
Master of vocabulary, his roots were as a TV continuity announcer, before hosting the Radio 2 early show from 1980 to 1988.
Ray died in 1989, aged just 47. Enjoy the modest words of a truly great broadcaster in his book ‘ Tomorrow is Too Late’ and enjoy here his last show.
