Plans to allow taxis in Belfast bus lanes for further 6 months - a good idea to ease city traffic jams?
Should taxis be allowed in bus lanes? There is a currently a trial period that has been running for the last 12 weeks which permits taxis to use bus lanes on the East and West Belfast Rapid Transit routes. It is due to end this weekend. Now Belfast City Councillors have passed a motion in favour of permitting all taxis to use bus lanes for an additional six months. The council will now write an official letter of support to the Department for Infrastructure. Is it better for the traffic flow for taxis to be in bus lanes? Does this help the new BRT route?
