Bor Commissioners ask youth leaders to take lead in negotiations for peace
County commissioners in Jonglei have asked youth leaders from Boma and Jonglei to take the lead in dialogue, and to immediately cease hostilities.
The proposal was fronted by the 14 commissioners during a closed-door meeting in Bor chaired by First Vice President Taban Deng Gai.
The forum also suggested the immediate disarmament of the youth, establishment of community policing between the Lou Nuer, Murle and Dinka communities and improvement of infrastructure.
Taban Deng Gai is leading a government delegation in Greater Jonglei seeking lasting solutions to conflict and tensions between youth and the communities of Boma and Jonglei.
The First Vice President told the officials that his delegation is fully empowered by the President to negotiate peace between the two states.
