Michael ‘Flea’ Balzary from the Red Hot Chili Peppers Founded Silverlake Conservatory of Music, along with Keith Barry and Pete Weiss. Keith Barry, Dean and Co-Founder, talks to us on 5900 Wilshire. Keith toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for a couple of years and went to Fairfax High with Flea. They both took music classes there. Flea went back to visit his school in the late 90's and realized the music program had been cut. After that, the three decided to start the Conservatory. Now with the dedication of their staff, Silverlake Conservatory of Music offers music and voice lessons, camps, ensembles, and recitals primarily to youth but adults can take classes as well.
