Coach Fred Batchelor and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women's Basketball team held a six-point advantage entering the final period, 45-39, until the Coppin State (CSU) Eagles went on a 10-0 run to take the lead, 49-45, with 6:58 remaining.

Eastern Shore (13-15) gradually chipped away at the deficit and reclaimed the lead after a pair of freebies from junior guard Alexus Hicks (Raleigh, N.C.), 52-51, with 4:07 left.

Maryland Eastern Shore kept the pressure on and pushed the advantage to eight, 59-51, with less than two minutes remaining.

CSU battled back and sliced the margin down to one, 60-59, but Hicks' clutch free throws down the stretch would seal the deal for Maryland Eastern Shore, 62-59.
